Marked: The House of Night, book 1 by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast

Marked coverA great addition to the "vampire" genre that fans of the "Clique" and "Gossip Girls" series will also love.

Set in the special vampire academy "The House of Night", Zoey Redbird discovers the power that comes with becoming a vampire. This book twists traditional vampire mythology, developing a new story for their existence. The usual high school goings-on occur -- rivalries, relationships, etc. -- but more dark and sinister things are also lurking for the characters. Will their bodies except the biological change of becoming a vampire? Or will they reject the change and die?

I really loved this book. I loved the vampire aspect, but also equally loved the traditional teenage stories that are going on at the same time. I can't wait to read the second book!

re: I have always loved vampire

We own Marked but it's checked out right now. We can put you on hold for it if you have Franklin Park Library card. If FPPL isn't your home library, you should go to your library and ask to be put on hold for the book or suggest that the title be purchased by the library. If you'd like to purchase your own copy, both Barnes and Noble and Borders carry it.

While you're waiting for Marked, you might try out the Vampire Diaries series, the Vampire Academy series, or the Blue Bloods series. If all of these series are checked out, don't worry; we can help you find some more great vampire books!

my son is completely into this whole vampire genre, will have to check out the book on Amazon or see if the local library has it. very good review Michelle

If anyone is having trouble

If anyone is having trouble finding this book it is more than likely for sale on eBay or amazon..:)

i want to read it

I have heard so many things about this book and cant wait to read it. The thing is I am like 30 on a hold list. My high school doesn't have it. Is there a place I can read it online?

Re: i want to read it

You should try asking the librarian at your high school to look into purchasing the book; most librarians love receiving suggestions of what books you want to read!

Where?

Where's the link on the page?

Re: Where?

The free online book is not available anymore. If you'd like to request a copy of book, you can IM us in the box at the right. You can search here to see which libraries own Marked. If you put in your zip code, you'll see the closest libraries.

You know, I tried to read

You know, I tried to read Anne Rice, but didn't really care for her.

I've never been a big fan of

I've never been a big fan of her either although I enjoyed Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned. Her Mayfair witches series was more intriguing to me.

Anne Rice

She started ok, then went off the deep end.

Vampires

Lots of vampire fans in Franklin Park? Did everybody start with Anne Rice?

I've been a big fan of

I've been a big fan of vampire books since I was a little kid. There's so much out there now compared to then, but much of it is fair to middling in quality, with a few stand-outs here and there. This one was an interesting take on vampires.
