Get a Library Card

What do I need?
- Proof of Franklin Park residency and photo identification. If your photo ID shows your current Franklin Park address, that is all you need to get a new card or renew an expired card.
- If your photo ID does not show an address, or if the address is not current, additional proof of residency is required. A current real estate tax bill or current lease can be used to prove residency.
- Any person younger than eighteen years of age needs a parent or guardian present to apply for a library card.
- Residents applying for a card are restricted to borrowing two items until their card is issued. A postcard will be sent to the address listed on the registration form, and this postcard must be returned to the library in order for the library card to be issued.
- Nonresident property owners, business people, and teachers are eligible for cards. Check with the Circulation Department at 847-455-6016 x1 for specific policies.
Franklin Park Library card holders have access to their personal accounts through our online catalog. To access your account, you need your 14-digit library card number (on the back of the card, under the bar code) and a PIN. The first time you log in, your pin will be "changeme" (no quotes). You can then change it to a private PIN of your choosing. After you log in, you can put materials on hold, ask to borrow materials from other libraries in the system, and renew your checked out materials.
