The Draper Collection

The Library wishes to thank Robert Draper for the items that he has donated to our Local History collection.

Purse shoes
A purse that belonged to Mrs. Hiram (Louise) Draper, the wife of the third Village President of Franklin Park. Representing the practical aspects of everyday living are four horseshoes that were found buried on the property at 2920 Maple.
Icepick
An ice pick from Richard Draper’s home at 9205 Parklane. The ice pick is probably from the 1920s.
Knobs Garniture
We were also given items of artistry and ornamentation. Four beautifully decorated brass doorknobs from the Woodruff Home (corner of Willow and Park) are now in the Library’s collection. The Woodruff home was once considered the cultural center of Franklin Park. Lastly, Mr. Draper has donated a lovely garniture that belonged to Mrs. Richard Draper (nee Emma Falkenhagen 1887 - 1948). This piece is German, from around 1900.
