Bakuman by Tsugumi Ohba

Bakuman volume 1 by Tsugumi OhbaMoritaka loves to draw but is hesitant about teaming up with his classmate to publish manga.

I have to say, this book really surprised me...in a good way! I never really thought about reading this book until one of my friends recommended it to me. I fell in love right away! The mix of comedy, school life, and romance fit so well in this series! Who knew the creators of Death Note could create something like this? I totally recommend this book to both boys and girls, so don't miss out on the action.

Vampire Knight by Matsuri Hino

Vampire Knight volume 1 by Matsuri HinoThere are two groups of students at Cross Academy: the Night Class, which consists of vampires; and the Day Class, which has no idea of the Night students' true identities.

"Oh man, not another vampire story." That's what most would say. But in this case you should definitely not judge this book by its cover (or title). Yuki is a normal girl who goes to a normal high school, but when things get dark, the Night Class students are out and about. The thing is, all the Night Class students are vampires, and little ol' Yuki here has to make sure the Day Class doesn't interfere with the Night Class. It's a very intense series complete with cute vampire boys. :)

Matched by Allie Condie

Matched by Allie CondieCassia lives in a world where The Society decides everything for you, including who you marry.

I have to admit that this book took me a while to read, mainly because I thought the pace was slow. As I kept reading I wanted to know if Cassia would choose Xander or Ky! I enjoyed the way the government was portrayed, and it really shook me up. This book made some really interesting points such as the way people were not able to write in cursive because they were only taught to type. It makes me wonder what life will be like in 10, 20, or 50 years. Overall I loved this book and I cannot wait to read Crossed!
