Small Business Saturday

We all know about Black Friday, but did you know about Small Business Saturday?

On Saturday, November 30, 2013, make it a point to celebrate and support local small businesses and all they do for our community.

Find out where to shop here.

Become a Friend of the Library

The Friends support the Library through volunteerism, fund-raising activities and sponsorship of programs and activities. The Friends meet the second Saturday of each month at 9:30AM in the Library. New members are always welcome. Your membership offers you the opportunity to share thoughts, donate your time, or lend your talents.

Recycle Your Old Cords and Christmas Lights

xmas lightsAs we decorate the library for the winter holidays, we're finding a lot of decorations we forget we'd packed away. Maybe you, too, are sorting through your decorations, and have discovered old, unneeded Christmas lights and cords. Boy Scout Troop 158 of Franklin Park will be recycling old and non-working Christmas lights and other old electrical cords for their recycling program, which helps to pay for Scouts and adult chaperones attending summer camp.

If you have any old cords or lights to donate, drop them at the drop off box at Village Hall anytime during December 2012. Questions or need a pick-up of your items? Call Art Wason, Assistant Scoutmaster at 708-404-4152 or email franklinparktroop158@gmail.com.

Neighbors Magazine

The monthly Neighbors magazine of suburban Cook County is available for your reading pleasure online. Check out November's issue here (since it's 40 pages long, you might have to give it a minute to load):

Buy Local - The 3/50 Project

Which three local businesses would you miss most if they disappeared? How can you help prevent that from happening? The Village of Franklin Park is encouraging residents and local business owners to participate in the 3/50 Project, which aims to deliver a significant financial benefit to our local economy. Simply choose 3 businesses to support and commit to spending a total of $50 per month in one or more of those establishments.

Visit the Village of Franklin Park's webpage where they explain this program in greater detail and link to the 3/50 project itself.
